Job Description:
The Manager, Commodity Risk Management, within the Front Office
Hedge Desk, will be responsible:
Position Management:
Ensure accuracy of head product contracts, corn, feed, meal and oil
volume positions. For approximately $900 million annually in corn
procurement and agribusiness sales, manage and execute the daily
hedging process, including hedge placement, for corn and coproducts
for US/Canada according to the approach defined by Commodities
Leadership. Manage futures/cash corn ownership and agribusiness
position to obtain desired hedge ratio targets. Ensure the process
of placing and lifting hedges is operating efficiently, in
coordination with physical corn procurement and agribusiness sales,
and in accordance with the Commodities Policy. Analysis:
Ensure the accuracy of commodity & agribusiness forecasts, sales
obligations for corn & agri-products, physical & derivative
positions & price curves inputs to the Net Corn Commodity Risk
process. Based upon the outputs from the Net Corn Commodity Risk
process, recommend risk mitigation actions to ensure compliance
with established risk metrics. Analysis & recommendations shall
include insights to support the US/Canada Commodity Committee.
Forecasting: Lead the gross corn forecast process across for all
grain types and support development of gross / net corn forecasts
on a real-time-basis as well as for Goal and Latest Estimates.
Information Systems:
Act as SME on systems / data flows that are inputs into the risk
management matrix. Knowledge of CTRM systems / Triple Point /
AgTech / SAP / BW / PowerBI / Azure Data Lake would be
advantageous. Support the execution of the Risk Management
Strategic initiative and the implementation and management of the
associated digital solutions. Commercial & Customer - Hedge Desk
Interface:
Due significant volume of Commercial Agreements known as Customer
Directed, this role shall be the primary point of contact for both
the Commercial Team and Customers for Customer Directed volumes.
The resulting hedging decisions & allocation of hedges will be made
based upon the risk position, risk metrics & physical basis
positions. Front Office - Supply & Marketing: Support Front Office
(Supply & Marketing) as required to
obtain, organize, and review rail corn documentation for Argo /
Winston rail shipments and input information into the GrainSmart
system. Process rail corn advances and resolve payment issues as
needed.Front Office - Hedge Desk: Backup for Hedge Desk: Provide
back-up coverage for the Hedge Desk role. Call in and document
trades, update the CornSmart Access database, and complete daily,
weekly, and monthly reports as needed.Qualified candidates will
have: Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics,
Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or other quantitative field with
relevant work experience.
5-10+ years of work experience in grain or oil seed merchandising
industry and /or similar experience managing financial derivative
commodity positions that would include knowledge and understanding
of commodity futures & physical transactions, record keeping, and
grain accounting.
Experience in commodities risk management, daily P/L reporting,
marked-to-market, VaR reporting and the statistical methods that
support them.
Demonstrated strong analytical capability including the ability to
analyze commodity data and formulate conclusions regarding its
impact on performance.
Ability to work in an environment where workflow is unpredictable
and demands flexibility, adaptability, and team oriented
interaction.
Strong communication and presentation skills including the ability
to communicate effectively to all
levels of the organization and customer base. We are an equal
