are looking for a Senior Technical Underwriting Governance
Specialist based in Chicago or New York Your Team The Underwriting
Integrity and Solutions Team ensures the proper oversight and
direction of underwriting governance across lines of business and
helps drive related underwriting projects. The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the Regional Head of Underwriting Integrity and
Solutions, North America , as Senior Technical Underwriting
Governance Specialist, this role requires cross-Line of Business
(LoB) and cross-function knowledge to drive global
Underwriting-related projects and governance tasks. You will
collaborate closely with all Lines of Business as well as other
functions (e.g., Operations, Reinsurance, Claims and the Allianz
Group centers). You will drive strategic initiatives and shape
elements of Allianz Commercial's governance frameworks in a lean
and effective way. Some of your specific responsibilities could
include:
- Ensuring solid governance processes are in place for the LoBs
in your area of responsibility as LoB champion in close
collaboration with the respective LoBs.
- Driving continuous improvement of the governance processes in
your area of responsibility and ensuring adherence to those
processes (e.g., authority framework, business reviews).
- Lead, drive and manage global underwriting-related strategic
projects that span multiple Lines of Business.
- Ensuring solid processes are in place for compliance topics
relevant to Underwriting, often in close collaboration with other
functions (e.g., sanctions and reinsurance processes).
- Preparing and presenting project outcomes to senior management.
What You'll Bring to the Role
- 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry or a
consulting firm with a focus on the insurance industry;
- Recent underwriting or product development/management
experience (within the last 5 years) in a large commercial or
corporate space in the US or Canada is preferred;
- Cross-division/departmental experience a plus;
- Technical underwriting expertise with a strong understanding of
the underwriting lifecycle and cycle management;
- Advanced MS Office skills, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel,
SharePoint, Teams, etc.;
- Ability to pull, manipulate and analyze data in Excel or other
analytical applications (SQL or VBA a plus);
- Ability to identify patterns and root causes and provide
insight;
- Ability to initiate appropriate actions to remediate risks and
follow through on their remediation;
- Self-motivated, result-oriented, independent and strategic
thinker;
- Ability to positively influence others' actions, decisions,
opinions or thinking resulting in positive outcomes;
- Ability to persuade and motivate others without direct
authority;
- Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and
verbally, across all levels of the organization; and
- Bachelors' Degree, preferably in Business Administration,
Insurance/Risk Management, Engineering, or other analytical degree.
The annualized base pay range for this role is $97,787 - $193,617.
The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range.
The actual salary for this position may be above and will be
determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity
and location of the role; the skills, education, training,
credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just
one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our
comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs,
employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash
