OverviewThe Chief Business and Operations Officer will oversee
our organization's operations and procedures to ensure we are
operating efficiently and in compliance with state guidelines, and
also equipped to advance the institution's strategic priorities.
The Business Office, Facilities and Capital Planning, Technology
Systems, Compliance and Nutrition Services report to the Chief
Business and Operations Officer. The position may also include
supervision of Human Resources, should the candidate have necessary
qualifications. The Chief Business and Operations Officer reports
to the President and is a member of the President's Cabinet. As a
member of the Cabinet, the Chief Business and Operations Officer
will help advance our strategic priorities described in IMSA 2033:
Elevating IMSA Everywhere, which involves engaging cross-department
teams.Hours/Shift/Work Schedule: As an exempt employee, the
incumbent is expected to work the necessary schedule to
successfully complete the requirements of the position; typically,
M - F 8:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M, with some evening and weekend hours.The
internationally recognized Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy
(IMSA) develops creative, ethical leaders in science, technology,
engineering, and mathematics. As a teaching and learning laboratory
created by the State of Illinois, IMSA enrolls academically
talented Illinois students (grades 10-12) in its advanced,
residential college preparatory program. It also serves thousands
of educators and students in Illinois and beyond through innovative
instructional programs that foster imagination and inquiry
(www.imsa.edu).The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA)

the human condition. The Chief Business and Operations Officer is
instrumental in devising strategies to fund necessary support
programs to ensure students from Culturally, Linguistically, and
Economically Diverse (CLED) backgrounds are
successful.ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an

functions. The Chief Business and Operations Officer will be
responsible for, but not limited to:
- Provide visionary, strategic, and operational leadership and
management of all financial, facilities, and capital planning
activities including the development and maintenance of policies,
practices, procedures.
- Manage Academy's annual State appropriation budget request for
both operating and capital needs in collaboration with an Executive
Director of Business and Financial Services, and participating in
state hearings.
- Develop an optimal financial strategy for supporting capital
development.
- Ensure our personnel operations are financially efficient, and
establish financial projections to support staffing as well as
financial guidelines for hiring.
- Establish a capital maintenance plan, pursue high quality with
reasonable cost structures, in collaboration with an Executive
Director of Facilities and Capital Planning.
- Ensure our technology services and systems support student and
staff needs and operate with maximum efficiency, in collaboration
with a Director of Technology, as well as supporting our strategic
interests that require the use of technology.
- Supervise Business and Finance, Facilities and Capital
Planning, Technology Systems, Compliance and Nutrition Services.
Supervision of Human Resources will also be considered if the
candidate has the skills and experience.
- Play a key role in all aspects of the collective bargaining
process for all employee work groups.
- Provide leadership in the state financial and compliance audit
process through well-managed records and action plans to address
areas of improvement.
- Actively serve in a consultative and leadership role in the
President's cabinet, particularly in leading a Vision 2033 team
related to a strategic priority.
- Other duties as assigned.Qualifications
- Senior level leadership experience in an institution of
comparable complexity, dynamics, creativity and vitality.
- MBA or related Master's degree required; high level of
knowledge in accounting, finance, budget and resource planning.
Human resource experience is also helpful. A CSBO license or
comparable credentials are desired.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the principles and
practices of budgeting and financial management, including
modeling, analysis, projections and financing.
- Experience in capital development or major projects that
reflect financing and projecting new revenue against costs.
- Experience in developing and maintaining multi-million dollar
budgets, as well as financial audits.
- Experience in staffing and managing business and facilities
operations.
- Proficient in the use and integration of technology for
accounting, business, and operations management, and an
understanding of the collaboration needed across other
departments.WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSWork is
performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or
safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer.
This role generally requires mobility, written and verbal
communication, hearing and visual capabilities. However, reasonable

requirements.SALARY AND BENEFITSThis leadership position is a
full-time, exempt, 12-month, employment-at-will position. Salary
regionally commensurate with training and experience in
like-institutions with a range of $130,000 to $192,000. IMSA offers
a comprehensive state benefits package (major medical, dental,
vision, and prescription) with rates found here, a generous paid
time off plan, and a retirement plan through the State University
Retirement System (SURS). SURS is reciprocal with other Illinois
public retirement systems such as the Teachers' Retirement System
of Illinois (TRS) and the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund
