Job Description
The Transportation Supervisor plays a crucial role in our
Transportation Department, ensuring efficient transportation
operations by overseeing a team of drivers. Reporting directly to
the Transportation Manager, the Transportation Supervisor will be
responsible for coordinating and managing daily transportation
activities to meet company objectives.--
Responsibilities:--
Supervise and coordinate activities of drivers to ensure timely and
safe transportation of goods.
Develop and implement transportation policies and procedures to
optimize efficiency and productivity.
Assign drivers to routes and schedules, considering factors such as
customer requirements, traffic, and vehicle availability.
Monitor driver performance, providing feedback, coaching, and
disciplinary action as needed.
Maintain accurate records of driver activities, including hours
worked, mileage, and fuel consumption.
Collaborate with the Operations Manager to develop and maintain
transportation budgets, forecasting expenses and identifying
cost-saving opportunities.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety
standards, including DOT regulations and company policies.
Coordinate with other departments, such as Fleet Maintenance and
Customer Service, to resolve transportation-related issues and
improve overall operations.
Stay informed about industry trends and best practices,
implementing improvements to enhance transportation efficiency and
effectiveness.
Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork,
communication, and professional development among drivers.
Job Requirements
Prior experience in transportation operations, with a proven track
record of success in a supervisory role.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to
motivate and inspire a team.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen
attention to detail.
Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards, with
the ability to ensure compliance.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the
ability to interact professionally with drivers, management, and
external stakeholders.
Proficiency in computer software applications, such as MS Office
and transportation management systems.
Flexibility to work non-traditional hours and respond to
transportation emergencies as needed.
A valid driver's license and clean driving record may be
required.
A 4-year degree is not required for this position, but candidates
with relevant degrees in fields such as Logistics, Supply Chain
Management, Business Administration, or related disciplines are
preferred.
